Did you know that your bowel movements are not supposed to stink at all? It is best if you cleanse your body on such a regular basis so that you prevent colds altogether, but if you do catch a cold:
Step 2. Take Dr. Na's Cough Stop and Nasal Decongestion herbal formulas with hot water immediately. By doing so, you will be able to turn your body resistance around, so you can avoid developing a serious cold syndrome which can last anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks as you know. These two herbs can effectively stop your symptoms within a few hours. Taking these herbs as soon as you start feeling chills, or get a headache with fatigue, or other cold symptoms does the trick. Many of Dr. Na’s patients attest to this.
Tip 2: Ideally you should have three bowel movements a day in order to keep, not only your digestive system, but your whole body running in a smooth and healthy way.
Simply speaking, the body is like a tube. If the bottom of the tube (the colon) is blocked, the top of the tube (the lung) will be affected directly. According to Chinese medicine, the lung and colon are paired organs, meaning that in order to have healthy functioning lungs, the colon has to stay ‘open’. If there is a blockage in the colon, the body's functions will become compromised.
Tip 3: Don't drink water when you eat.
When we cook food, we use a stove. Similarly, the body cooks what we eat with its enzymes. The body is stimulated to produce digestive enzymes when we smell or see food, when its know it is time to eat, or when we actually start eating. The enzymes work to break down the food into materials that cells and tissues can feed on or digest. When drinking water, we dilute these enzymes, which is like trying to cook food without heat. Thus, for efficient digestion, it is important not to drink water with your food. Dr. Na recommends drinking water 30 minutes before your meal and then waiting for 30 minutes after your meal before drinking more water.
What is worse than drinking water with your meal? Drinking ice water or iced beverages with your meal! It is another reason so many Americans are overweight. When you drink ice water with your food, these precious enzymes are not only diluted but the coldness of the iced drink kills the enzyme activity. Enzymes are activated only at the normal body temperature so when you drink iced beverages it will actually destroy all enzyme activity and delay the digestive process.
The result is not pretty. The food will stay in the stomach for a longer period of time, because the stomach has to warm up and a new supply of enzymes has to be generated. In the meantime the food becomes putrefied. Food is not meant to be stored at body temperature waiting for digestive action, it spoils. A refrigerator can properly store food under constant cold conditions. Our stomachs cannot.
In this way you can see how indigestion can be so common. Americans get so used to indigestion they do not even know they have it after a while. Constant indigestion or slow digestion will alter the body's metabolism in a bad direction. This cascades into many problems including obesity, high cholesterol, fatigue, and acid reflux.
Acid reflux, by the way, can be liken to a sewage system being blocked; drainage backs up and causes problems upstream. With acid reflux the colon is blocked and severely slows down your waste drainage such that the system tries to relieve itself in the other direction.
Tip 4: Drink plenty of water during the day.
The body is nothing more than a complicated chemical machine. There are billions upon billions of chemical reactions occurring in the body at any one time. Most of these reactions require water. Do you realize that most people only drink water when they are thirsty? Thirst is your body's urgent cry for water. Since our body is made to tolerate much more than it should before it sends a cry for help it is necessary to drink well before you are thirsty. This is why you will here Dr. Na recommend over and over to her patients, friends and family, “Drink more water.”
